How to Find an Optometrist :

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛An optometrist examines, diagnoses, treats and prevents diseases and disorders of the eye.

There are a few ways to find an optometrist:

Contact the Ontario Association of Optometrists and ask if there is a local chapter in your community:

290 Lawrence Avenue West
Toronto, ON M5M 1B3
Tel: (416) 256-4411
Fax: (416) 256-9881
Look in the Yellow Pages of your local telephone book under "Optometrists."
The Canadian Association of Optometrists provides information about eye examinations, common eye conditions, how to prevent injury, and eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Specialists

For certain eye conditions, your optometrist or your family doctor may refer you to a specialist. An ophalmologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats eye disease. Opthamologists are trained to administer medication and conduct surgery. An orthoptist treats conditions that affect how the eyes align (e.g., "lazy eye" or "crossed eyes").

Eyeglasses and Contact Lenses

If you need corrective lenses, you will have to visit an optician. An optician prepares eyeglasses and contact lenses according to the prescription that you receive from your optometrist. Opticians will also help you select eyeglass frames and fit them. Opticians are listed in the Yellow Pages of your local telephone book.

        • Thank you for the post. How much does the eye exam for contact lenses cost by opticans? Is this covered by once-two-year free eye check? Thx
