I am a loyal listener of your morning show. I like your program and agrees with you on most of the topics.
But then there is this morning's discussions about the crime against asian fishermen. I can not agree with you on this.
Yes there has been a tendency of over-marking racial issues in our society and some minority groups have been over-sensitive. But this one I believe is different. This is the type of crime targetted on what they (the criminals) think is vulnerable, and because asian fishmen were hated by them in general.
This has been a hot debate inside Chinese community in forums and discussion board too. Many people are criticizing immoral fishermen created problems (Asian being targeted). But this convinced me more that this crime is hate-related because it was conducted on innocent people because they are the same race as what they thought as bad guys.
If these people caught a bad fishman and through his fish out in the lake and even beat him, I don't think people will label it as hate-related. In our Chinese community, most people will even feel good that the bad fishman was punished somehow. But unfortunately this is not the case. The only reason this poor fishman being target was because: 1) he is asian 2) he is a fishman.
