        Employee need to pay 20% of medicine, 25% of dental cost, or your disability benefit is only 60% of your regaular payroll. The reason that you would never get 100% is that employee would have incentative to save or return to work when you are disable.

        Most unions cover up to 100% or very close to 100% of the cost. Do you now understand why GM's benefit is about 100% of the salary; where most other non union's benefit is about 30 - 50% of their salary.
