    • Catches my eyes: Cashier $27.82, Law clerk $34.47, Cook $25.02. these are basically unskilled or low skilled jobs...
You take these easy-job with union's protection. Really you just enjoy your life, no need to keep learning fxxking new knowldge drain your brain cells..
      • And don't forget about their benefits. The only thing we know is their sick leave, how many of us can have 18 days a year and you can accumulate them for cash? Let's imiagine the rest. But I wonder if we can have such good imagination.
      • I had a long discussion with 2439 and now I started to believe he was right. I am a slave! I would never enjoy my life as the union workers can!
    • The subject is a little misguiding. Keep in mind that it is "Hourly wages earned by some Toronto city employees at the top of their seniority level".
      • senior level? no. lots of them make that money. for 25/hr and cashable sick days and just doing light phisical union work, this is absolutely best job ..
job is so secured and so easy and going home just enjoy life. You don't care your boss, union take care of it.
        • The quoted is from the source of the data. It's not my opinion. It's in the same article on National Post, via clicking the URL in hkchan's post.
      • Private sector wages calculated based on provincial average for employees with 25 years of experience using PayScale.com.
        • I am just reading the source of your post. National Post made it clear. I am not comparing the wage difference between public sector and private sector.
          • There is no way to compare apple to apple but 25 years experience in private sector should be rougly equivalent to senior level at government. But welcome to city worker to tell us how long you can promoted to the top of seniority.
            • Interesting... I am not working for Government. I want to clarify the message. Again, the wage is "at the top of their seniority level", not "senior level". I assume you can take it as the maximum of the wage.
If comparing apple to apple, you probably need to give the wage of those "at the top of their seniority level" in private sector.
              • yes, you are right and this is why I said there ws no way to compare apple 2 apple.
                • I personally don't favor union. However I understand those garbage collector's working condition.
I understand why those sick-day benefit is needed for those really works on site. But for the strikers who works in the office, I don't think they should deserve.
                  • I would like to understand why they need the option to cash in their unused sick leave when they retire. Do you mind to share your view?
                    • bank sick day工作25年以后,退休前可以cash out.最多120天,而且只给half of the wage.
政府是拿这个18天病假, make the workers look bad,
                        • You are right! 18 days sick leave is not the focus. Our target should be outsourcing all non core city works to save tax payers' money.
    • Anyone noticed that dental hygienist and energy consultant in Toronot City earn less than private sector. Interesting!
