It seems I will have to apply for my first TN visa very soon. I have a few questions for you. Really appreciate your answers.

- When to apply. I heard you can only apply within two weeks before your start date. Is this true or you can go there a bit earlier ?

- How important that the US employer has to state in the job offer that you will be offered a temporary job for less than a year ?

- Foreign education evaluation. I called the port of entry at Montana and the officer who answered the phone were not aware of this requirement. And he only told me to bring the transcripts. Did anybody get their TN visa without Foreign education evaluation ?

In my case, my company did the evaluation for me but the officer at the border said they needed the original copy. Luckily, I did the evaluation myself in Canada as well and showed them the original copy and got my TN.

I will leave a technical management position to take a system engineer in Austin. So, I did not even ask for more money and the move is purely for the family and in the meantime they have a very interesting project. I wish I made the right move.
