i'd get the body only , then get a tamron 17-50/f2.8 lens. costs about the same as the kit, but you get constant aperture f2.8, downside is that the focal length is shorter than 18-105, and no VR (not really important for 17-50 range still image). -genjurok(Genjuro); 2010-2-12 (#5880034@0)

if you're into photo AND video, then 550D is probably a better choice, the body MSRP costs $100 more than D90. it's pretty much a 7D minus the 7D AF and 8fps, but with pretty much the same sensor and video functions. -genjurok(Genjuro); 2010-2-12 (#5880037@0)
